There are many scriptures in the bible that supports this but one story stands out. It is the story of the widow's mite in Mark 12.

The bible tells us that while it was offering time, Jesus sat over where the offering would be collected and he took note of the giving. Many who were rich gave much, while this poor widow who had nothing except her last two mites gave all she had.

Out of all the giving that went down on that day, it was the widow who got Jesus' attention and he pointed it out to his disciples. Jesus said that out of all those who gave, it was the widow who gave the most because she not only gave of the last she had, but all that she had.

Malachai 3 also states, "ye have robbed me in tithes and in offering". Our tithes is different from our offering and if we are faithful in one area and guilt in the next then we are considered 'thieves and robbers'. Our offering is important as much as our tithes is and vice versa.

Our attitude behind our giving says a lot and can also change a lot. "If you give to the poor you lend to God". "It is more blessed to give than to receive".
