“And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire” (Matt. 3:10).
The Christian pathway is about bearing fruits. Whether we believe it or not and whether we like it or not, every day we bear fruits. The real questions is, what fruit are you bearing?
1st Corinthians chapter 13 talks about the fruit of love and Galatians 5 talks about the fruits of the flesh and also the fruits of the spirit. As children of God, it is our responsibility to mortify daily the deeds of our flesh, crucifying it, and then to bear the fruits of the spirit and love unto God.
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. Anything outside of this is carnal.
Here are the fruits of love.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
Do you have this? What fruit are you bearing?
“For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes” (Luke 6:43-44).
Your fruit will always be evident to others. Be careful how you react in every given situation and ensure that the right fruits are always displayed when you choose to respond. Our Lord tells us that trees which display bad or corrupt fruits are fit for destruction and the fire. Think before you react.
