Did You Know?

Exploring Matters of the Heart

with Terry-Ann Scott

A true believer will work hard at abstaining from sin but you may be in violation to God's laws and not realize it, if you watch certain types of movies. Two of the commandments are, 'Thou shalt not kill' and 'Thou shall not commit adultery', and the secular arena is comprised of movies filled with moral decay. To have for entertainment the appetite to watch people committing adultery or fornication, killing, stealing, you name it, is an act of indulging into something wrong. This makes it a sin ( we sin in words deeds and thoughts, not just deeds). You may not be doing it literally but you still become a part of it by enjoying such acts. Even worse, you open your spirits to a host of temptation just by allowing yourself to be a part.

Have you ever watched TV and a burger or Pepsi commercial comes on, then you begin to either immediately of later develop a crave for the same thing? It works similar with movies, and spirit transfer can take place (many persons have become possessed through this medium).

Solution: Watch only things that are spiritual, beneficial and edifying to you as a person on a whole. If it is not spiritual or educational....leave it out! There are a lot of christian entertainment when it comes to movies, be selective and stick only to what edifies, brings God glory and what the Holy Spirit can be a part of.
