We have read about it, heard about it and we have talked about it. Some of us have even experienced it. I am talking about the power of God in action in our own lives! God is still in the healing business and he still raises the dead too. I just want to testify for a while in this weeks series of reflection.

Wednesday June 8, 2011, was no ordinary day. My mother was scheduled to visit one of my brother and his family in Atlanta Georgia. I remember waking up with a feeling in my gut and the thought, "What if I never see her again", raced through my mind. Due to the flight, my mom left early that morning and I never got to say good bye on that day.

I dismissed the thought and sure enough we got a call later to say she had arrived safely, but little did I know what awaited us. The following day seemed pretty normal until about 5:00 pm on the evening of Thursday June 9. It was business as usual when the telephone rang. My brother from Atlanta Georgia was on the line telling us to pray because mom was being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance as he spoke and it does not look good. He informed us that she was not responding and there were suspicion of a stroke. It did not look good.

Mom began to complain of a funny feeling. We were told that during a conversation with mom she stopped speaking. When my sister-in-law turned to see what was wrong she saw mom sitting up in a couch with her eyes dazed and distant. When she checked, mom stopped breathing and started to become stiff. She cried out for Andrew and he came rushing down the stairs speaking in tongues. God was preparing him for something. There was a nurse living next door and after trying to resuscitate her for ten minutes before the paramedics arrived, the situation seemed hopeless. The nurse began to cry. My brother was a detective in the force for over two decades and he knows what a dead person looks like but he continued to pray and speak life over her.

The paramedics was now on the scene and they told Andrew things looked pretty dim and hopeless but he respond she will be fine. They worked on her for another 10 minutes and still no change. They continued to work on her in the ambulance and the most unusual thing happened. As the ambulance pulled up into the hospital grounds, mom became conscious and answered questions they asked her. They moved her in, ran many tests and all came back normal. A stroke was ruled out but they kept her in for more tests. We received an update of her progress by telephone but it was not yet over.

The following day we received another call that mom died again in the hospital! She was asked by a nurse to turn on her side as they were preparing to do a test and the next thing you know...it was a code blue. The machine flat lined and she was dead. Her bed was surrounded by doctors and nurse. During this time she was in another world. She had an out of body experience and just over a minute she was brought back to life. Thanks to the doctors swiftness and expertise they managed to bring her back to life but we know that God was the one really in control. She has her medical report of her testimony but until this day the doctors can't find a cause for her death.
