Are you struggling with something you need to change? The apostle Paul teaches about the fruits of the flesh, but it is not an easy task to crucify our flesh daily.

Paul was a man who loved God. He was wise not only in spiritual things, but he had earthly wisdom and knowledge also. Paul understood that there are laws that governs everything. There is a law that governs the flesh and a law that governs the spirit. Paul said, “I find then that every time I desire to do good, evil presents itself.”

Paul was privileged to receive numerous revelations in the spirit, so much that God allowed the devil to place a thorn in his flesh to keep him humble. It is very easy to become heady, high minded and prideful when you have knowledge. Paul said, “knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth,” and the wisest man Solomon said, he that increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow”.

Paul was a man who strived daily for perfection and for this reason he sought God thrice about the thorn in his flesh and God replied by saying, “My Grace is sufficient for you and my strength is made perfect in weakness.” This is when it dawned on me that we can only be truly changed when we encounter Christ. Our faults and flaws never truly leaves us as we will always have the fleshly side to deal with. Our attitudes remains the same until we learn how to put on the Lord Jesus Christ. In God, we are a new creation. No one can ever come in contact with the presence of Christ and remain the same. His presence is enough for us as He will carry us once we learn to live and abide in Him. Whenever someone comes in contact with Christ, the first thing observed is positive change. So too whenever someone steps outside of Christ, the first thing noted is the reversion to old ways as the faults and bad attitudes begins to surface once again. This is because our flesh remains with us. We will never get rid of the fleshy side of us until God returns for His church, but once we encounter Christ and abide in Him we will become transformed into His likeness. Nothing outside of Christ can dwell in His presence. His presence brings wholeness and completeness.

If you are praying for change, seek God for an encounter and I guarantee you will never remain the same once you remain in His presence. That is why He said to Paul, “my grace is sufficient for you and my strength is made perfect in weakness.” God will not take our fleshy side from us, it is there to stay, but He is willing to carry us with Him as we choose to walk in the Spirit and in newness of life.

“If we live in the Spirit let us also walk in the Spirit. Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
